GHMP Art Book Fair 2026

The sixth edition of Prague City Gallery’s Art Book Fair will once again showcase a selection of the most interesting publications in the fields of art books, artists’ publications and zines The accompanying programme, conceived by graphic designer and musician Martin Hůla, will be held this year under the motto DO IT TOGETHER, viewing culture as a living and collaborative process. Visitors will therefore be able not only to take part in discussions throughout the weekend, but also to get involved themselves – through drawings, texts or ideas – in the wider programme, working together to create publications, a special font or open-source tools that will continue to exist long after the festival has ended. GHMP’s Art Book Fair will take place on 19 and 20 September 2026 at Troja Château. Admission will be free throughout the weekend.

He was known both in the Paris art world and among the Montenegrins in the Balkans. GHMP commemorates the extraordinary story of Jaroslav Čermák

In 1858, he was living a comfortable life in Paris; he was just under thirty years old and had already achieved everything that most European painters of the time could only dream of. He exhibited at the prestigious Paris Salons, wealthy patrons were buying his paintings and he had before him a career that was open to only a handful of artists of his generation. Instead, he decided to travel to Dubrovnik and later to the Balkans, a region ravaged by war. He spent time among Montenegrins and Herzegovinians fighting against the Ottoman Empire and came to know their harsh way of life. He drew and sketched, was received at the Montenegrin princely court, and later transformed these experiences into monumental canvases in his Paris studio. His name was Jaroslav Čermák. Prague City Gallery, in collaboration with the National Gallery Prague, is now commemorating his extraordinary life with the first major retrospective in almost a century. The exhibition will be on display from 4 November at the GHMP Knihovna.

Labyrinth: Wandering Within

Labyrinth – Structure, Maze and Metaphor. A place where wandering and searching for direction are accompanied by uncertainty, tension and fear, influencing the maze walker’s decision about which way to go. Every decision is crucial, because without Ariadne's thread, it is difficult to retrace our steps. What leads us to make decisions? Understanding the structure? Fear of uncertainty? Prague City Gallery presents this year’s edition of the Labyrinth project, subtitled Wandering Within which will take place from 1 April – 29 October 2026 at Troja Château.

Free National Gallery. Description of a Struggle.

After the 2023 elections, the new Slovak government appointed a nominee from the Slovak National Party to head the Ministry of Culture and the controlled destruction of cultural institutions began. The new cultural policy was not ideological but personnel-based and aimed against professionalism. What followed was beyond what we could have imagined. Prague City Gallery (GHMP) will present this event at the GHMP House of Photography with an unprecedented project on the borderline between an activist and documentary exhibition entitled Slobodná národná galéria. Popis jedného zápasu (Free National Gallery. Description of a Struggle) that will take place from 3 February – 29 March 2026.
